I was first introduced to Phoenix’s local music scene about 3 years ago. I’ve come to appreciate the love this community has for one another and there are talented bands like Wyves and House of Stairs that give me hope that there’s something great lurking in the depths of this Valley. Going back to three year ago, I was one of those people who didn’t have friends that were local musicians so I thought seeing a local band was a waste of my time. I was naive and further from the truth and I couldn’t be happier that I’ve come to see that there’s talent all around us if we actually just leave our houses every once and awhile.
With all that being said, this morning I saw that released recently was an acoustic version of the first song that made me realize that musicians from Arizona had more to offer than I thought. I have never had the pleasure of seeing Katastro live, but their song Alone was the first recorded song I actually liked from a local band. It blew my mind that on my free time I was choosing to listen to a song I could probably easily hear live at a local venue. The acoustic version is just as satisfying as the original and I can’t wait to hear more. Katastro’s new acoustic album Bones is out on August 11th and if you pre-order it now, you’ll receive an exclusive download of Alone!
