Singer, songwriter and band decker. released the much anticipated new album Patsy. Please pay attention to this word: songwriter. Put your head phones on and chew on the imagery found within the lyrics of this album. decker. continues to evolve, though still remaining true to their undefinably eclectic soundscapes. The music runs through the spectrums of emotions leaving one feeling as though you have listened to a soundtrack for a ghost of man; perhaps as ambiguous as the band itself. The albums first lyrical track is O.D.B, a toe tapping tongue and cheek piss off anthem. Brannon Decker seems to have a remarkable talent for the sweetly sarcastic, go fuck yourself songs. I have a soft spot for dark and brooding so my favorite is Esther Mofet sung with a hypnotic rhythmic cadence. The rest of the album is quite moody throughout with the use of horns, a theremin and slower tempos. The close of the album resurrects hope with the porch stomping track Cellars, followed by a Old Dirty Revival, a revival version of O.D.B. Catch decker at The Patsy release show in Phoenix Saturday, February 21 at Last Exit Live with The Haymarket Squares, Field Tripp, and The Through & Through Gospel Review.
