Ryan Breen of the band Spirit Cave and artist James B. Hunt NXOEED have created a little romance mystery on this Valentine’s Day for the 8th annual Valentine’s Day Art Hunt called Operation Boyfriend. The facebook invite states “There’s a corner in a crevice behind a wall within a maze of alleys in Central Phoenix. We’ve been working on it for the past few weeks. Each week, new paintings are added, music players are installed, trinkets are hidden, lights are hung. It’s beginning to look less like a nook for transients to sleep peacefuly without fearing harrassment by the cops, and more like a magical little gallery for feral cats.” Hummm.
A clue: black hearts scattered throughout town with the message, “Spirit Cave & NXOEED Present: Operation Boyfriend, February 14” printed on them means there’s a valentine hidden nearby. On the back of the valentine, you’ll find clues to the whereabouts of the “gallery for feral cats.” Once there, everything you find is yours to keep. The treasures may include: copies of the “Hungry Ghost” EP by Spirit Cave, five new paintings by James B. Hunt, strange things, possibly a homeless man.
Clues will be released on Valentine’s Day. Guests who RSVP on this event page will be randomly selected to receive valentines of their own, which will provide additional clues.
