WITMA (Where Is The Music At) Media Group is a unique new business platform founded last year that brings artists, concert venues, promoters, and fans together. They’re working towards providing an outlet for fans to discover new and exciting music in Phoenix. Witma Media’s first show was last Saturday night and it featured The Sink or Swim and Fairy Bones opening for Aidan Connell, a London-based blues guitarist compared to the likes of Peter Green, Clapton, and Beck.
Because of the holiday, The Sink or Swim performed with their original three members and they played some old songs that I’ve loved since first seeing them a year ago. These guys always give a solid, entertaining performance so be sure to go to their next show on December 15th at The Rebel Lounge with El West, The Real Fits, and Sydney Sprague.
Even though I’ve seen Fairy Bones more times than I can count, I’m always surprised by how there’s always something a little different with each show. Last Saturday they even played some new songs that keep me hopeful for the new direction they’re going in musically. It’s nice to see this band continue to grow and mold themselves into something unique and worthwhile in this repetitious Phoenix music scene. You can try catching Fairy Bones tonight at Last Exit Live for The Soft White Sixties album release show with Paper Foxes and Wyves or on December 30th at Timeout Lounge with Snailmate, Wyves, and The Redemptions.
Aidan Connell lived up to the hype that Witma Media were promoting for his Phoenix show. Aidan’s energetic songs off his debut album, Grio, came one after another. I Hate Rock ‘n’ Roll was a crowd favorite, but I especially enjoy I Just Wanna Be Loved because it is one of many songs off the album that you can listen to and really appreciate the artistry of guitarist Aidan Connell.
