One minute before midnight, Phoenix native Courtney Marie Andrews independently released her fourth album No One’s Slate is Clean. Courtney had released her previous three albums under Phoenix based record label River Jones Music. Miss Andrews raised the funds for the recordings while on a 2010-2011 tour with another well-known Phoenix native band, Jimmy Eat World. The album was produced by Grammy winning Chris Testa of Los Angeles. His project list includes some music you may have heard of: The Dixie Chicks, Switchfoot, Mandy Moore, and Paul Simon. What can I say about it? Simply lovely. The gripping lyrics of Georgia Guilt stopped me in my listening tracks. But don’t take my word for it, take a listen. Catch Courtney live on December 27, at the Crescent Ballroom.

Georgia Guilt
Holy bible,
Note from mother says to stay clean,
On the table,
Religious fable,
Kid your guilt reeks, it reeks.
Conscience, fuck off, along with cheap talk,
Out to ruin me,
Out to get me.

It’s hard to care for another,
When you hate your father.
It’s hard to show you why I am comfortable when we fight.

Boy says mean words,
Don’t just say words, just because,
Boy is right though,
Steady and slow wins the prize.

It’s hard to care for another,
When you hate your father.
It’s hard to show you why I am comfortable when we say goodbye.
Let’s say goodbye.

I just listened through the entire album and it was a wonderful way to start my day. It’s amazing to see you come so far with your music.
